Steadrow Compost Tumbler

The Steadrow Compost Tumbler is a dual-chamber rotating composter in the 43-gallon class, mounted on a steel frame so the whole drum turns over with a few easy rotations instead of a pitchfork. Two chambers are the whole point: fill one side with fresh scraps and coop bedding while the other side finishes, and you harvest usable compost on a rolling schedule instead of waiting on one big pile.

Honest expectations, because compost marketing runs hot: a tumbler speeds the turning, not the biology. Regular spins keep the mix aerated and heating evenly, sliding doors make loading and emptying clean, and vents feed the process air — but finished compost still takes weeks, not days, and the mix you feed it matters more than the drum. What the tumbler really buys you is contained, rodent-resistant, back-friendly composting.

On a homestead this is the middle of the system: bedding and droppings from the coop go in one chamber, finished compost comes out the other and feeds the raised beds — the loop that makes a flock pay its way twice.
